Its Not Only Federer and Nadal

For the past three years Tennis fans have not really seen a good matchup apart from the Federer (number 1 in the world) vs Nadal (Number 2 in the world). The Spaniard leads the Swiss 8-5 in the head to head record however the Swiss has made $25 million more in prize money and also has 29 more career titles than his number one opponent Rafael Nadal. Nadal in the other hand is 5 years younger and will have time to catch up. With their indisputable control over the tennis courts in every surface possible, Nike has had all the advantage over its competitors in relation to which sponsor had better players and therefore better publicity. I have no doubt that Federer is the best or one of the best Tennis players ever to exist. I also have no doubt that Nadal is the best player that has ever existed on clay surface and one of the most charismatic players in history. This will never change but what has changed recently at least in the last month has been their indisputable control over the Tennis court. Three weeks ago, David Nalbandian surprised everyone and destroyed the Spaniard in his own country in the Master Series of Madrid by 6-1 and 6-2. In the Semis, the Argentinian (Nalbandian) surprised the whole world again by beating Nivak Djokovic ranked 3 in the world. In the Finals, Nalbandian, with an impressive display of quality defeated the Tennis King, Roger Federer.

Only one week later at the Master Series of Paris, Nalbandian anhialated Nadal in the final with a final score of 6-4 and 6-0. This week, the Masters Cup is being played. Only the Top 8 players in the world get to play. So far, after only two games played by each player, Nadal has lost to his compatriot Ferrer and Federer suffered a loss against the Chilean Gonzalez.
This new competition will be good for Tennis where fans were getting tired of the same old (nontheless great)Federer vs Nadal.
